Barstool Sportsbooks app of the Penn National Gaming will finally make its debut in Pennsylvania in September.
PNG announced on Tuesday, that Pennsylvania Gaming Board has allowed a live, real-money test period for the Barstool Sportsbooks app from September 15-17. The final ios app approval is pending.
However, the soft launch is to be limited within a few pre-registered participants. They will ensure that there are no hidden glitches in the app. In case, the tests go well, the app will be open for real wagering from September 18, pending regulatory approval.
The app was developed by PNG after it acquired 36% stakes in the Barstool Sports in January. Jay Snowden, CEO of PNG said that the process was hampered by the pandemic, but the developers collaborated remotely.
The bettors will be able to engage with online Barstool luminaries such as Dave Portnoy and Dan ‘Big Cat’ Katz. They can bet with them as well. The bettors will also have the option to interact with the Barstool personalities live at one of the many casinos in the coming months, informed Snowden.

Snowden reiterated that PNG still eyes for Michigan and New Jersey expansion.
PNG has also signed a 10 years deal with Nordic online operator Kindred Group. The online gambling market access deal is for the states of Illinois and Ohio. The launches will be announced pending licensing approval. In the state of Ohio, the legislators need to approve the legal wagering and online gambling as well.
Unibet of Kindred Group has already launched in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. They are targeting the Illinois launch. The launch will be done by PNG as per the deal through Argosy Casino Alton Riverboat casino just outside St. Louis.
